Hatha Yoga (Better Backs)

We combine asanas (yoga postures) and breath to maintain a healthy spine in this Hatha yoga class.  Empasis is on moving with the breath, and opening tight areas of the body.  We also work on strengthening weak areas, since flexibility without strength leads to instability in the joints, and strength without flexibility leads to injury.  This class is an excellent supplement for anyone doing a lot of fitness workouts such as running, sports or weight training.

CATHY COLE:

Cathy is a graduate of Michigan State University with a degree in Business Administration.  She works at GM Powertain in Pontiac and has been in the automotive world most of her working life.  Cathy completed her yoga instruction training at Body Language Fitness/Yoga in West Bloomfield and has been practicing yoga for over 6 years.  Cathy either takes or teaches yoga 5-6 times a week.  She is very excited to be teaching at Bella Pointe Dance and hopes to bring the benefits of yoga to as many people as possible.
